This is my first attempt at adding offshore oil rigs into X-Plane based on OSM data.
Efforts were made to filter out oil rigs located near X-Plane’s built-in oil rigs; however, some overlaps may still occur.
- If you encounter an oil rig that overlaps with an existing X-Plane oil rig, please report it so that it can be corrected in a future update.
Oil-Rigs, in X-Plane, are represented as heliports positioned in oceans or seas.
Disclaimer:
The data comes from the OSM site, which means it is not official but should be reasonably accurate.
The scenery was generated using a script, and while I performed tests to ensure the 3D assets and helipads are aligned, some skewed positioning may still occur.
Installation:
- Extract the content of the compressed file into the "Custom Scenery" folder.
For Manual Ordering of the Scenery:
- Start X-Plane and quit once you reached the Menu screen.
- Edit the "scenery_packs.ini" file.
- You could place the Scenery at the bottom of the file, after the "GLOBAL_AIRPORTS" or any custom scenery that you have.
- Re-run X-Plane
Mission-X Users:
If you are using the Mission-X plugin, ensure that you re-run the "APT Data Optimization" task from the Setup screen.
This step is required so that newly imported data is stored and made available to the plugin.
